Flora & Fauna in the natural reservation Cheile Turzii
It contains over 1,000 species of plants and animals, some representing rare elements, such as wild garlic, rock eagle, etc.
Flora
In Cheile Turzii there is an app. 1,000 floristic species, including Leurda (Allium ursinum), iris (Iris pumila), motley iris (Iris variegata) and various species of ferns (Pteropsida).
Among the protected plants of the reservation, we mention the following species: Eel (Ephedra distachya), Key Crow Onion (Allium obliquum), yew (Taxus baccata) and Primula columnae, Wild Garlic (popularly called Key Crow Onion), Jugastici P, Cocosului, Garofita alba, Odoleanul, Omagul, Violaceu, Vulturica.
Among the alpine species that have survived until today in the Turzii Gorges are: Aster alpinus or Ranunculus oreophilus, and among the rarest plants in Romania we find here: integripetalus, viola liliachie (Vioala jóoi), thorn (Carduus fissurae), a tribe ( Aconitum collibotryon), a decorative grass (Arenastrum decorum), yew (Taxus baccata), Dracocephalum austriacum, Fritillaria tenella, Centaurea atropurpurea, Daphne creorum, Sorbus cretica, Primula columnae, Doronicum columnae, Pedicularis campestris.
Fauna
The fauna from Cheile Turzii includes 67 species of birds, fish, weasel, stone marten, lilac colonies, wild boar, rabbits. We can also find rock butterflies (Tichodroma muraria), mountain eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), fox (Vulpes vulpes), wild cat (Felis silvestris), deer, deer and ferret (Putorius putorius).
